The Pillar of Evangelism
From Loveland’s Mission statement you can see the ‘5 Pillars’ of our mission. I serve as the Executive Pastor for two of the pillars. Today I wish to share regarding Evangelism. For us, this is both, ‘near and far’ ... we like to say ‘across the street and across the world.’ In both of those statements you can see that evangelism is a double-fisted effort for us.
Across the Street (local) - There is a misconception that “the evangelism team” does evangelism. This would be correct if we all understood who is on the “team”. You see evangelism is an every body team effort. Each of us are called of God to share Jesus with those who cross our paths. Admittedly, some are Spiritually gifted to share and some others may be talented to share but all of us are able to share. Can you imagine the impact if we all were engaged in evangelism as a lifestyle?
This is our goal! So, beginning in 2010, we will conduct training on various methods of sharing our faith in Jesus, with those around us. Deacon Will Brown Jr and his wife Deaconess Diane will lead the way. Throughout the year, we will offer courses to help you gain confidence and comfort in telling others about Jesus in your life.
Then of course, we will conduct various public events and attend other public events that offer opportunities to share our faith. Exciting stuff will be happening and we want you prepared and ready to be a part and to do your part for God’s Kingdom!!
That’s a local view but we also have a Global view! (across the world) We are planning for a trip to Ghana in October 2010 as well as spring of 2011! Pastor & Pastor Charlyn will likely host the October trip, and go to participate with Mission Africa’s Conference. This will provide an opportunity for Loveland members to go and lend a hand in the construction of the Loveland Church & School House currently being built. Naturally, there will be trips between Africa & SoCal. Closer to home and for shorter periods of time. Something for everyone and opportunity for all.
Lastly, we will also get further involved in our Cause to eradicate Malaria from the continent of Africa and the world. Our Missionary (Servant) Aunty Kim Stewart will lead us in this endeavor and she is preparing a conference, seminars and fund raising events as I write this.
Jesus’ call to go is as fresh today as it was at Matthew’s recording it. We will be obedient to God’s call and join His adventure to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
